Later it progressed under the Mauryan Dynasty, specially at the time of the Great Ashoka, then appeared the Indo-Greek descendants of Alexander's warriors, and finally came the most creative period of Ghandhara, when the Great Kushan Dynasty was established about 50 AD. For next 200 years Taxila became a center of learning philosophy, and art, and attracted pilgrims travelling from as far away as China and Greece. The end came in the 5th century AD, when Taxila was destroyed by the White Huns. There were later kingdoms of Kabuli Shahi and Hindu Shahi, claimed to be descendants of Kushans.
